Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has revealed that several asset managers have approached the regulator for consultations regarding spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs). However, no formal applications have yet been submitted, leaving the timeline for the first launches uncertain.

According to CoinTelegraph, the SEC cannot confirm whether these spot crypto ETFs will debut as early as 2026. This cautious stance reflects ongoing regulatory deliberations amid growing interest from institutional players in the region.

For Japanese investors, this development highlights the expanding crypto ETF landscape in Southeast Asia, which could influence regional market dynamics and investment flows in the years ahead.
