Banks have significantly increased their participation on the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) MiCA crypto provider register, now accounting for approximately 23% of all listed providers. This marks a near doubling of their presence since late June, according to CoinTelegraph.

The MiCA framework aims to regulate crypto service providers across the EU, and the growing involvement of traditional banks signals a blending of conventional finance with the evolving digital asset space. With banks nearly representing one in four providers, their influence within the crypto ecosystem continues to expand.

For Japanese investors and market participants, this trend highlights the increasing institutionalization of crypto markets globally, which may influence regulatory approaches and institutional participation in Japan's own digital asset sector.
