An attacker has moved 45% of the Bitcoin stolen during the third wave of Coldcard-related cyberattacks, amounting to approximately $7.7 million in BTC, CoinDesk reported. This marks a notable development in the efforts to track and potentially launder stolen crypto assets.
According to Galaxy, 82% of the Bitcoin stolen across all Coldcard attacks remains in the original addresses, while 18% has been shifted in what appears to be laundering activity, underscoring ongoing attempts to obscure the trail of these illicit funds.
For Japanese investors, this incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with hardware wallet security and the importance of vigilance in the crypto market, where stolen assets can rapidly enter circulation despite enhanced security measures.
