Coinbase has secured approval from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to operate a derivatives clearinghouse, marking a significant step in its expansion within the US crypto regulatory landscape, according to CoinTelegraph.

In a related development, Kraken’s parent company completed the acquisition of Bitnomial in May, which includes control over Bitnomial’s CFTC-regulated exchange, clearinghouse, and brokerage services, CoinTelegraph reported.

This regulatory progress by major crypto firms reflects growing institutional interest in regulated derivatives markets, a trend that Japanese investors and traders are closely monitoring as Japan continues to enhance its own crypto market frameworks.
