Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, is set to acquire Lithuanian Saldo Bank as part of its strategy to broaden traditional banking services within the European Union. This move marks a significant step for Payward in integrating conventional financial operations alongside its crypto offerings.

According to CoinTelegraph, the acquisition is expected to be finalized in 2027. Once completed, Payward will gain access to four EU markets currently served by Saldo Bank, enabling a stronger foothold in the region's financial landscape.

For Japanese investors and traders, this development highlights the growing convergence between crypto platforms and traditional banking within major global markets, signaling potential shifts in service accessibility and regulatory frameworks that may influence Japan’s own evolving financial ecosystem.
