Australia has released a draft bill aimed at adopting the OECD's crypto tax reporting framework, known as the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). This move aligns Australia with a global effort to enhance transparency and cooperation in cryptocurrency taxation.
According to CoinTelegraph, Australia is one of 77 jurisdictions committed to implementing CARF. The first international exchanges of crypto tax data under this framework are expected to begin in 2028, marking a significant step toward standardized global crypto tax reporting.
For Japanese investors and market participants, this development underscores the growing international momentum toward regulatory clarity in the crypto sector, which could influence Japan’s own approach to crypto tax compliance and cross-border information sharing.
